Have you ever thought of packaging tape as an art medium? Five young artists from across the country have put their artistic skills to the test and have been selected as finalists in the third annual Scotch Brand Off the Roll Packaging Tape Sculpture Contest, sponsored by 3M. From a skydiver to an octopus, these sculptures are super cool!
Vote now at OffTheRollContest.com through Wednesday, May 2 to help determine the top two sculptures made from Scotch Packaging Tape. Votes should be based on creativity (60 percent) and presentation (40 percent), and the limit is ten votes per person/email address per day. The two sculptures with the most votes will go to a final round of judging determined by a panel of experts, and the Grand Prize winner will be awarded $5,000.

Everyone has heard the expression music + fashion is a marriage made in heaven. At College Lifestyles, we also believe technology + fashion makes a wonderful marriage! While writing, tweeting, posting, interviewing – our personal style AND technology needs to be on par.
As a proud Verizon ambassador, we have been testing 2 fabulous Verizon products, the Droid RAZR and Motorola Droid XY Board. We have been tasked on combining how tech and fashion can go hand in hand. From running to a studying session OR writing a great post, we have developed some of our favorite looks to accommodate our technology.

We can carry our pen, notebook, AND Motorola Droid XY Board in this fabulous tote and look chic (without the stuffy suit) while interviewing our favorite authors and stylist.

You have researched the company and practiced interview questions in the mirror. You look polished and professional. You arrive 10 minutes early. You are called into the interview room. You shake hands and take a seat. And the first question is….well…..difficult and one you did not practice in the mirror. What was that question?
Day 8: What’s the toughest question you were asked on a job interview?

Dress for the career you want. What if your career does not require a suit? Should you wear pants, a skirt, or only one piece of jewelry? Bring a handbag or not? Put your keys on the table or not? Times have changed from the stuffy suit to a more relaxed look. What do you suggest?
Day 7: What should you wear to a job interview?

Time and time again we hear statements such as…
‘Turn off your phone.’
‘Dress appropriately.’
Many of these ‘do not do in an interview’ we already know. What are some ‘realistic’ do NOTs in an interview?

Career centers, calling companies, career fairs, websites, instructors? College Lifestyles is incredibly excited to start listing both job and internship openings to our website starting 4/19; but where do you find out about job opportunities?
Our CEO was pretty bold when looking for jobs, ‘I called the HR department at local hospitals, wellness centers, and any where else. I was pretty desperate for a job. Sure, I got hung up on and told no, but one call did lead to a job!’
Day 4: Where do you ‘look’ for job opportunities?

While this question may seem a little odd, think about it. Do you do something before a huge exam – listening to a favorite song, yoga – to relax you? If so, we want to know!
Day 2: Will you have an interview day superstition?
Verizon Wireless Online Workshops: What We Loved, Learned, and Wanted More Of!
April 10, 2012 by Shelly Marie
Filed under Ask Shelly, CL ExCLusives!, Lifestyle, Product Reviews, Professionalism
As a proud Verizon ambassador, we have been testing 2 fabulous Verizon products, the Droid RAZR and Droid XY Board.
While we loved playing with both out Droid RAZR and Droid XY Board, it got to the point where we had questions about our devices. Tired of typing in google our questions, we signed up for an online workshop. (Do know Verizon does offer workshops in their stores).
Why we LOVED the online workshop format as compared to in store presentation:
1 – Let’s be honest, sitting through an hour workshop is a bit, well, time consuming. The fact we could pause AND skip segments was quite appealing.
2 – Even though we completed the class, we can still go back and review a specific segment.
What NEW information we learned (and set up) about the fabulous Droid XY Board in our online workshop (and why the XY Board is great for students)
1 – Combined view email.
Instead of logging into various email accounts (personal, student, work, etc), the XYBoard has an option of combining all your emails from your various accounts into one view. This is a great time saver when running back and forth between class, projects, and meetings.
2 – MotoCast
I-tunes, pictures, video, and documents from our MAC can be viewed on our XYBoard by using this application. A quick set up on both the computer and the XYBoard had us viewing all documents in a matter of minutes. Great to upload a video for a plane ride OR a presentation for class.
3 – MotoPack
This application allowed us to browse through ‘favorite’ applications for the XYBoard in the categories of business, games, entertainment, library, productivity, and family. By clicking on the app, you are directed to the ‘Play Store’ where you can download and directly install on your XYBoard.
4 – Bookmark via Webmaster
Similar to our own desktops, we can bookmark our favorite sites. The first site we bookmarked was College Lifestyles.
What we would like to see more workshops on:
1 – Home Screen Organization.
We are still trying to figure out how to organize all our apps, widgets, etc. We are massive organizers here and need a bit more help in this area.
2 – Upload, edit, save, and share documents.
We review and edit tons of files on a daily basis. We would love to be at the coffee shop or library working, but still trying to figure out how to upload, edit, save, and share our documents!
