The semester is coming to an end and you may be overwhelmed with various emotions. Whether you are sad to leave, excited to head home, or feeling a combination of these, CL’s got tips to make your return home a smooth and stress-free one.
Make a checklist to ensure you took care of all your school responsibilities back home.
- Stay organized and be sure you have registered for the right courses at your school for next semester, so you can get back into the swing of academics without unnecessary hassles. Consider adding an international component to your studies at home.
Expect home to be a little different and expect yourself to be different.
- Your perspective on certain things in life may be different than when you left home a few months ago. Also remember that just as you have had experiences away, so have your friends and family, so be sure to share your stories but to also listen to theirs.
Get involved in cultural and international activities on your home campus.
- Try to find ways to integrate your study abroad experience into clubs and organizations you are a part of. Consider sharing your experiences by encouraging other students at your school to study abroad. This could also be a great way to use your study abroad experience as a resume builder.
Start thinking (and planning) your next experience abroad.
- Make use of resources at your school and online to find other study, internship, volunteer, and work experiences abroad. Think about embarking on this next experience abroad with a friend you met during your study abroad experience.
