Many of us are on the hunt for the perfect Holiday dress with Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year’s quickly approaching. This year, we’re seeing a lot of cut-out dresses, so feel free to give one a try!

There are various styles of cut-out dresses such as the body con, skater dress, and the evening gown. Make sure however, you aren’t showing too much skin. We’re going for tasteful, not tacky!

Stay sophisticated and cute with some of these styles below:

Chic Style: Shopping Looks

Hi ladies, the holidays are quickly approaching and I know everyone is out searching for the perfect gifts for loved ones, so I always make sure I’m dressed comfortably for long days of shopping.

shopping day

To stay fashionable and comfortable, pair jeans with an oversized sweater and a cute pair of loafers. Loafers are great walking shoes for traveling up and down the mall.

Also try pairing colored jeans with a t shirt and Uggs and/or sneakers. To make a statement try add a fierce fur jacket to stay warm. Hope this was helpful. Have fun holiday shopping :)

Intern Closet: What to Wear to Homecoming Party

Every homecoming party is different: some might be dressy, and others laid-back. Here’s some outfit options if you’re totally stumped!

1. Skater Dress – A popular party dress these last few seasons. It’s perfect for a fun, flirty night on the dance floor. Since it flows at the bottom, it’s easy to dance in.

2. The High Waist Pant: These pants a great for girls that do not like to wear dresses. They could easily be dressed up into a party outfit with a heel and form-fitting top.

3. Leather/ Metallic Dress: This dress is awesome for parties and clubs. It’s a great color and absorbs sweat while dancing.

4. The Body Con – This dress is very form fitting and is more appropriate for clubs and cabarets. Not the easiest dress to dance in, but fun to wear every once in a while!

I hope my closet helped you ladies with all your homecoming party anxieties. For more homecoming advice, check out Rachel’s article on your guide to wearing sequins!

What to Wear: To Tailgate

tailgate

Homecoming is one of the most exciting times of the year. Friends visit from other schools, alumni return, and clubs invite you to celebrate the football season with all sorts of fun activities. The tailgate is the most popular way of celebrating. If you’re not sure what to wear to a tailgate, here’s some tips to get you started!

Most of the time, tailgates are pretty casual. You can never go wrong with school gear! Try your school crew neck with jeans and boots. If it’s cold outside, add a scarf!

A cozy school-colored sweater also works with leggings, jeans and or boots. Since it’s getting colder out, make sure you wear a long sleeved shirt under your sweater to stay warm.

tailgate

If you’re going for a girly-glam look, try a dress that matches your school’s colors. Pair the dress with boots or flats for a casual look.

Hope these outfits lead to a great tailgate! For more homecoming advice, check out Casey’s article on great tailgating foods!

Chic Style:  The Brocade Trend

The Brocade trend takes us back in time to renaissance Europe. (Think Queen Elizabeth and rich satin prints). The brocade uses rich fabrics with gold embroidery and glossy material. This rich fashion was worn by aristocrats and monarchs.

The Brocade trend stems from the early 17th to mid 18th century Victorian era. It was an architecture style emphasizing drama with bold, curving forms and elaborate ornamentation. This trend swept the runways of Dolce and Gabbana & Balmain last season, and it’s great for dressing up and down.

brocade

I love this trend because it’s subtle yet very sophisticated and rich. The colors of these dresses are irresistible and unique!

steal brocade

Try it out with a nice brocade top, dress or pant. Everything looks great with a good heel :)

Chic Style: In the Classroom

Hello ladies! School is officially back in session with homework, midterms and group projects. Many of us are losing our enthusiasm to get dressed for class with everything going on. I like to call this the mid semester slump where we just roll out of bed and straight to class. Here’s some inspiration to get dressed with these chic fall styles.

classroom style

On nice fall days, try waking up five minutes earlier to pick out a cute outfit. Pair a cute A-Llne shirt, t shirt, booties and denim jacket for a fashionable look.

classroom style

Comfort is the main issue when sitting in long classes. Stay classy with a pair of colored jeans, a tank top and an oversized sweater. Oversized sweaters are a fall/winter essential for style and comfort.

classrom style

As stated above, oversized sweaters are big this season…try a oversized knit with a cute pair of jeans and knee boots. Try pairing with a leather pack bag or tote.

I hope these outfits inspirations get you out of your mid semester slump :)

Chic Style: The Perfect Dress for your Shape

Homecoming season is around the corner it’s time to find the perfect dress for social events. At CL, we have the perfect guide for finding out dress size.

Prom Dresses: Apple Shape Body Type  Apple Shape – this shape could be for tall or short women. It depends on the mid section. The best dress for this body type is probably the drop waist and/or empire style dresses.

athleticAthletic Shape – tall, boyish torso. This is a great shape for a long or short dress. Create the allusion of curves with something that clings in the waist to ‘break up’ the torso.

Cascading Chiffon Dress
Prom Dresses: Full Figured Body TypeFull Figured – There are a good amount of options for this body type. The best and most flattering is an empire waist gown with a good amount of flow. You also try something with an embellished top.
Prom Dresses: Hourglass Shaped BodyHour glass – this figure can be assessed to both tall and shorts women with curves. The most flattering dresses are the fitted or mermaid style dresses.
Peplum Bustier Dress
Veracruz Maxi Dress

Prom Dresses Body Type PearPear Shape – the hips and thighs are normally wider than the rest of body. The most flattering dress for this figure is something one-shouldered with attention the on bust with a loose bottom.

Prom Dresses: Petitie Body TypePetite – normally for ladies 5’3 and under with small, trim body frame. For a petite body, type the best choices for a dresses are A-line, empire and Sheath. Try exposing your legs.

CL’s Guide To Looking Chic During Fall Dates

Fall is the perfect time for going on dates because it’s still warm enough for a stroll after dinner and a movie. Need fun date idea’s check out CL’s Guide to Fun Fall Dates. No need to worry about what to wear, here’s some Classy outfits for your date.

1. Edgy Girl: If your style is like mine, soft outfits need a little bit of edge. So for a fall night date, wear a printed dress paired with a motorcycle jacket and shoes depending on the date activity. This outfit gives off confidence and playfulness.

2. Girly Girl: Need glam? This is the outfit for you. . Wear a chiffon skirt and a sparkly top with a knit/tweed jacket for the perfect date-going look. You can show some leg, or wear stockings. Either way, it’s a cute and flirty first date look.

3. Daytime Date: A denim dress is a fall must-have. Cute and playful, a dress like this is good for the day and the night. Denim dresses are also great for casual dates. Pair with a black boots and some jewelry and you’re set!

4. Party/Club Date: The printed tapered trouser is making a big statement this season, and it looks great with a sparkly crop top and blazer. You can dress this outfit up or down with makeup, hair and accessories. Try to get some clues about what type of party it is, so you’ll know how casual or dressy you should be.

Hope this guide was helpful to you ladies. Have fun on your fall dates!

Chic Style: Autumn Color

As the colors of the leaves are changing, why not change up the colors of your wardrobe? This summer was all about bright neon prints, but fall is all about neutrals, leather and lace. These trends are perfect for girls that love leather jackets and biker boots. You can also throw in some western booties. Slip on a sweater and a scarf to complete the look.

Reds, like burgundy or burnt orange are great in the fall. Try a fun graphic sweater within the reds color scheme. These colorful sweaters look great with pleated skirts, jeans and a pair of boots.

Like we said before, biker jackets are big this season, but who said they had to be black? Get a fall-colored leather or faux leather jacket to make your outfit pop.

Another one of my favorite fall colors is off-white. This a great color because you can wear it all year around. Try an off white dress with a denim jacket, and brown boots. It’s girly, with a little bit of edge. Still not sure of how to white after labor day check out CL’s guide to wearing white after labor day article.

Happy Fall everyone, stay fashionable and warm :)

What to Wear: Presentation Attire

Hello ladies, the time has come to say goodbye to beach trips, shorts and long summer nights. It’s time to return to homework and presentations. One thing that helps me is knowing that I look great while I’m presenting. Here at CL, we’ve laid out some options to help you look your best when you’re the center of attention.

Stay classy with a great pair of slacks, heels and/or flats and a satchel. There’s a pair of slacks out there for everyone such as, the wide leg trouser or straight leg chino. Below are a few options from J Crew. Pair them with a nice button down blouse or a dressy shirt with a cardigan along with a length appropriate pump for a great presentation ensemble.

Don’t forget ladies, keep it light with the accessories. Add a beautiful leather satchel and the perfect heel you’ll feel great and confident enough to rock your presentation.

Intern Closet: What To Wear To Group Dinner

Hi ladies! One of my favorite events of the summer are big group dinners with friends. These are one of my favorite times of year because I love catching with everyone I  haven’t seen in a while. Besides the terrible splitting of the check and old drama which resurfaces but all in fun, I dislike these dinners because I never know what to wear! Now thanks to Facebook and Instagram, you don’t want to have on an outfit you hate with the pictures posted everywhere. This year’s first big dinner happened to be my friend’s birthday.

Staying true to summer trends, my go to option was a high low skirt. Doesn’t it seem like a fairly easy outfit choice to pair with a cute shirt and shoes right? WRONG! This high low skirt became a tough decision because of the pattern.

If your like me this became interesting because I normally do not like to match, so I opted to pair this skirt with a forest green American Apparel lower back body suit and hot pink sandals to add a splash of color.

Apparently I wasn’t the only one thinking of the easy but chic high low hem look. Great night with friends.

Would You Wear – Star Denim

Hi ladies! The American flag trend has been making a huge splash this summer. Old Navy carrying American Flag shirts and Topshop’s cute flag shorts. Celebrities have been seen in flag tanks tops and even american flag denim. A trend I’ve noticed different celebrities have been wearing is star denim. Khloe Kardashinan is one celebrity sporting this cute trend.  While on the hunt to find these jeans, I discovered they were $218 dollars. These Current/Elliot star denim jeans have been seen on many other celebrities as well. My question is would you wear these $218 dollar jeans?

Look For Less: Pretty Little Liars

Hi ladies! It’s been another mind boggling week on Pretty Little Liars! Can you believe Jenna’s not blind?! I always knew it. The ladies didn’t disappoint once again with the fashion choices. My two favorites this week are Hanna and Aria. Don’t forget next Tuesday tweet CL  your favorite liar look for less post and outfit recap!

Hanna

spread_YG3Oe5

I loved this look on Hanna.  She is casual but still fashionable with one of this season’s trends, colorful jeans. Perfect pop of color and her wedges were adorable. Hanna’s original outfit was a little pricey. She is wearing a $109 Mason by Michelle tank and $141 Elizabeth and James Kayden Pants. But here’s a look for less option: hannalook

Another favorite look of the night was also from Hanna.

hannacolorblock-1

Once again the pop of color from the hot pink belt made me fall in love! And this outfit is a steal. A simple $59 Urban Outfitters dress and skinny hot pink belt.

$39 Urban Outfitters Dress

Finally we have Aria wearing every trend I love this summer! A peplum shirt and printed midi skirt. This skirt is also from Urban Outfitters for $59 (which will soon be inside my closet). Although I could not find Aria’s exact top similar ones are being sold at Asos and Anthropologie.

Look For Less: Pretty Little Liars

Hi ladies, after a tortuous three months of waiting for Pretty Little Liars to return the summer premiere has  arrived!. It was not a disappointment! Besides the mysterious, dark, and crazy lifestyle Hanna, Spencer, Aria and Emily live on this show, I think we all can agree on is their fashion choices. Though they are being chased or followed by a mysterious “A” they give her or him something great to look at in the style department. During this week’s episode my favorite style maven was Hanna. I love that Hanna is always fashionable, glamorous and casual all at once!

Let’s begin with the fringe dress! This look is already a look for less because this dress is from Zara for $50 which is a steal.

spread_fhQsY2

Here’s some other fringe look I think you will enjoy if you loved Hanna’s fringed dress:

The second look from Hanna which I love is the striped blazer and crochet dress.

Hanna’s blazer is a splurge as it is a $210 BCBG Maxazia Blazer. Here are some there options to recreate the look below.

And last but not least, a personal favorite from this week’s episode was Aria’s skirts and graphic tee’s look. This is a favorite because it is my signature look. (eliminate above sentence) I love the feminine masculine contrast within the two.

Dress For Success : Office Attire

Hi ladies, it’s almost summer time ! All of us are probably going out on numerous internship or summer job  interviews while some of us are preparing to head back to work. My favorite part of summer work is office attire. It gives us another reason to shop and to buy items we know we would never wear outside of the office but we think is office appropriate and fabulous.

My favorite item for office attire is pencil skirts. Cute and affordable, pencil skirts come in various design types and colors. There are so many different types of pencil skirts including numerous designs or you could opt for a solid black or navy blue. The high waisted pencil skirt lengthens the legs and gives you the perfect tiny waist.

Here are some options :
