ABC’s New Fall Series: 666 Park Avenue

When I first saw previews for ABC’s new drama, 666 Park Avenue, what I envisioned was Desperate Housewives meets American Horror Story. After watching the premiere, I would have to say that was pretty accurate.

If you missed the premiere, here’s what you should know:

There are seven major characters:

Jane Van Veen and Henry Martin: A young couple who quickly become the new building managers of Drake Apartments, address 999 Park Avenue.  They are dating and live together, but not married. They are the central protagonists.

Olivia and Gavin Doran: A married couple who own Drake Apartments. They seem to be the major antagonists of the show, although Gavin seems to be the main puppet master.

Brian and Louise Leonard: Tenants of the building, Brian is a playwright and Louise is a fashion photographer.  While writing, Brian spies on a blonde woman, Alexis, numerous times through the window.  Alexis quickly becomes hired as Louise’s new assistant.

John Barlow: A tenant of Drake Apartments, who kills people in order to bring his deceased wife back to life. Gavin tells him who to kill, and he does.

The episode starts off with Malcolm, a violinist, playing during a concert, until blood literally comes from his fingers.  This doesn’t even phase the Dorans, who are in the audience. After the concert, Malcolm breaks his violin over a suitcase, serving as a metaphor for him wanting to escape his previous life. We learn that he has a deal with Gavin, who made him a very talented violinist. Malcolm tries to escape the Drake, and he literally gets sucked back in and is stuck in the walls.

Throughout the pilot episode, Jane catches on to some creepiness that lies within the Drake, such as strange noises, a package that mysteriously ended up in her apartment, and questionable history of the building. Henry doesn’t seem to think much of the things Jane finds. We also learn that Malcolm was the building’s previous manager, who moved to “somewhere warmer.”

All in all, the episode did keep my attention, was creepy and frightening, and has some serious potential.  Having said that, I found the episode to seem forced, and at times corny because of things like Jane fixing a flickering light and a ghostly pale woman in a long nightgown in the background. Jane found a mysterious dragon mosaic on the laundry room floor, which has some relevance to an old fraternal organization. Gavin is standing in the corner of John’s room as he sleeps, it is revealed that Olivia had a daughter who passed away in a car accident many years ago, and she loved the color red, which is the same color as the $4000 dress Olivia insisted on buying for Jane.

I give it one more episode to make up my mind.  I think it could be really good and around for a while, or it could go horribly awful and be extremely dumb.  I followed twitter trends (#666ParkAve and #666ParkAvenue) about it and it seemed that people either loved it or hated it.

I’m dying to know what you thought of it. Please let CL know!

666 Park Avenue airs Sundays at 10 on ABC.

Top 5 Reality TV Halloween Costumes

Reality TV stars-we love to love them and we love to hate them.  Dressing like them is fun, cheap, and often times unique.  The cast of Jersey Shore is overdone and no one wants to see a million Pauly D’s running around, fist pumping.  But, if you’re anything like me, you are a sucker for trashy TV and aren’t afraid to say it. Here are the top five Halloween costumes based off reality TV stars.

5) Real Housewives of New Jersey.  While Jersey Shore is overdone, the women of RHONJ show a whole new side of the Garden State…sometimes.  Grab a group of pals, throw on big heels, short dresses, and channel your inner Jersey housewife.  These costumes also serve as a nice conversation starter-everyone watches the RHONJ/NY/A/OC/BH shows, but rarely publicly admits it.  After a few glasses of cider, you can rekindle the times Teresa flipped a table. No matter what though, I call Melissa Gorga.  Because honestly, who WOULDN’T want to be Melissa for a night?

4) Kim Kardashian’s Wedding. White dress, questionable headpiece, and a divorce waiting to happen.  Easy.  Get your boyfriend to be Kris Humphries.  All he needs is a dumb facial expression and poofy hair.  Perhaps you can draw up some divorce papers to carry around too.  Oh, and you have to wear the biggest diamond you can find.  I’m talking golf ball sized diamond. 20 karats isn’t too big.

3) Toddlers and Tiaras: Dress up like children, wear a lot of makeup (the tackier the better), and get a sash.  Maybe even hold a big trophy, fake money, and carry a binky.  You can always have your best friend be your pageant mom or the girl who wasn’t crowned Ultimate Grand Supreme.

2) Survivor contestants: This was the easiest Halloween costume I have ever done.  My boyfriend and I ordered buffs from CBS.com, wore shorts and shirts we already had, and called it a day. I got a wooden beaded necklace and made that be the immunity necklace.  We saved money and had unique costumes.  Oh, and since you are pretending you’re stuck on an island, you don’t have to waste time doing your hair and makeup.

This one is of my boyfriend, Matt, and me from Halloween 2011.

1) Bachelor and Bachelorette: Make your man, or guy friend, wear a shirt and tie and make sure he has a rose pinned to his shirt. As for you, wear a cocktail dress and you can go one of two ways: You can have a rose, symbolizing the man of your dreams wants to keep you around for another week, or you can have makeup running down your face and messed up hair, meaning the love of your life didn’t give you a rose. How dare he give Vienna a rose?!

I hope you love these ideas.  Tweet us (@collegelifestyl) your pictures and leave your costume choice in the comments section found below.

Top 5 “Character” Halloween Costumes

Character Halloween costumes can be some of the most fun and creative ideas, but it seems that many of the most common ones pop up at every party, every single year.  After much research and careful consideration, CL has come up with the top five character Halloween costumes for the classiest of co-eds.

5: Candy Bars

Candy Bars are a cute way to dress as a group, yet you can still be an individual.  It’s also a group costume that doesn’t need a certain number of people to complete, like many others.  Someone can dress like a Snickers bar, a Reese’s Cup, Milky Way…whatever you want! This would also be a great DIY costume.  Perhaps you could throw a costume-making party with some fall snacks, like Tie-Dye Cupcakes.

4: Team USA

Olympic hype is still going strong, with the US Women’s Gymnastics Team showing up in tons of commercials, ads, and magazine covers.  Like candy bars, this group costume could be for three people or ten.  It allows a lot of freedom as well.  You can dress like Aly Raisman and your boyfriend could be Ryan Lochte, so no one sport has to be the choice for everyone (unless you want it to be).  If you wish to, you could even dress like Olympians from years ago, such as Bruce Jenner or Kristi Yamaguchi.

3: The Spice Girls

A 90’s girl favorite, dressing like The Spice Girls is an all time classic and a favorite for co-eds everywhere.  Gather a group of five of your closest friends, pick a spice out of a hat, and set a date to go shopping for your costumes.

2: Spears through the Years

Britney Spears has had so many different appearances, it’s almost hard to keep track of them.  For this costume, collect a group of more than 4 and everyone can choose an iconic Spears image.  For instance, you can dress like her infamous school girl in the “Hit Me Baby One More Time” video, someone can wear a flight attendant costume, much like the one she rocked in the “Toxic” video, and if someone is willing, be the bald Britney.  With a little googling, many more can be found.

1: Seven Deadly Sins

This costume would, obviously, require seven people. Creative, cute, and you can include your own touch.  This one can be a little trickier, so I’ve broken each costume down for you: Envy should be head to toe in green.  Gluttony can dress like candy or wear bright colors and carry a giant candy cane.  Sloth gets to wear pajamas.  Lust should dress slightly sexier, but still classy (don’t get too carried away!), so no lingerie, but perhaps a cute corset top and short shorts. Pride needs to dress in something extremely flattering and should carry a mirror around, or something to look vain.  Wrath, my personal favorite and perhaps allows for the most creativity, ideally would wear a lot of read and wear spiky jewelry or punk-like touches. Greed should dress like a very wealthy woman, maybe pearls around her neck and a fur jacket.  She should also wear big rings, lots of makeup, and carry a lot of fake money.

Tweet us your favorite costume idea and send us a picture when you are ready for the party!

Major of the Month: Journalism

Picking a field of study can be quite tricky, especially if a wide variety of areas interest you.  Changing your major is ok-if you end up getting a degree in something you don’t care for, you will have a miserable time once you get into the real world.  When I was an undergrad, I changed my major a few times, choosing everything from Communications to Geology.  In the end, I decided on Creative Writing.  For September’s Major of the Month, I interviewed and IUP 2012 graduate, Heather Slick.

Name: Heather Slick

Age: 23

School: Indiana University of Pennsylvania

Major: Journalism

Did you pick a school based on your major?

I started out as an Elementary Education Major, and I was highly influenced to go to IUP because I heard such great things about their ElEd program.  However, I took into consideration other things such as the campus, location and size.  IUP’s Journalism program originally had nothing to do with my choosing IUP.

Why did you pick your major?

Honestly, it took me a few tries before I finally decided on my major.   I started as an ElEd Major and quickly decided that it wasn’t for me.  Sophomore year I switched to Fashion Merchandising, and although I love fashion, I don’t think this major was quite what I expected it to be.  I wanted a major that allowed me to really use my creativity and expand upon something I already enjoy doing.  That’s how I ended up switching to journalism, because I’ve always had a love for writing, and I figured I should just stick to something I know I love doing.

Did anyone influence your choice of major?  How and why?

Randy Jesick, the Dean of the Journalism department influenced me to become a journalism major.  I had not fully decided on Journalism until I talked to him.  He was extremely helpful in explaining the everything I needed to know about the major, and unlike some of the other department deans I had talked to, it seemed like he cared about my success.

What classes did you take based on your major? What did you do in these classes?

I took many basic journalism classes, just so I could learn the craft.  One class was dedicated to learning and memorizing the AP Style book.  It was exhausting and boring.  However, my interesting classes like Social Media, Public Relations, News Reporting, Photojournalism and Entertainment PR made up for any dull classes I was forced to sit through.

Did you enjoy your classes?  Why or Why not?

Usually, I loved my classes, especially the ones where we were giving the opportunity to use a lot of creativity and imagination.  Some of my classes were tedious and stressful.  I wasn’t a huge fan of my Copy Editing class.  Editing and re-writing news releases all day isn’t my idea of fun, but I do think I got a lot out of the class.

What would you say to someone considering this major?

Prepare to write a lot!  And prepare to get papers returned to you with lots of red pen marks all over them.  Be present and speak up in your classes, and really try to take all you can from them.  Use your creativity in your projects whenever you can; it will set your work apart from others.

What do you like and dislike about your major?

I love the writing, creativity and communication aspects.  I hate, hate, hate the editing.

Did/will you have an internship involving your major?

I have not had an internship involving my major, and it is one of my regrets.  Internships are where you gain the real experience and apply everything you learned, and they are so important.  I still hope to apply for a few in the near future.

What are your future career plans? Goals?

My plan right now is to complete the Disney College Program, and network with as many people in their Public Relations Department as I possibly can, and discovery what it is I really want to do with this degree.

Are you considering majoring in Journalism? If not, what are you planning on getting your degree in?

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux: The Romance Behind the Engagement

The news that Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston recently became engaged rocked the worlds of celebrity fans around the country.  Ever since her split from Brad Pitt in 2005, America has been rooting for Aniston to find her happily ever after. 15 months after being linked to Theroux, she has found her new man!

Here’s a breakdown of the couple’s relationship:

2008-Jennifer Aniston, 43, and Justin Theroux, 41, meet on the set of Tropic Thunder, but do not hit it off.

May 2011-The couple met on the set of Wanderlust and officially began dating. Other than pictures together and very few interviews, the two kept the details private.

October 2011-Aniston alludes to her relationship in an interview with Glamour saying, “I would say I couldn’t be in an interview without equality, generosity, integrity, spirit, kindness and humor…and awesomeness.”

February 2012- While promoting Wanderlust, Theroux tells New York Magazine, “I understand the curiosity about [me and Jen], but other than saying I am happy, I am not going to indulge it.”

February 11, 2012-While Aniston celebrated her 43rd birthday, OK! magazine reported the two were “very affectionate,” and they were “welcoming guests together.”

March 2012- “I feel sexy in my jeans and wearing my boyfriend’s t-shirt,” Aniston raved to InStyle magazine, “He has great style–it’s very specific, and it has been his style forever.”

April 2012-The lovebirds move in to a Hollywood Hills rental home, while preparing to permanently move into a $21 million home in Bel-Air, which was being renovated (hence the rental home).

August 4, 2012- Rumors circulate that the couple has called it quits because Theroux still had connections to girlfriend of 14 years, Heidi Biven.

August 10, 2012- The couple got engaged while celebrating Theroux’s birthday. His rep claims he received “an extraordinary gift” because she said yes.

August 12, 2012- The news became public, hushing any rumors of them splitting.

This news comes shortly after Aniston’s ex-husband, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (Pitt left Aniston for Jolie while filming Mr. and Mrs. Smith) have decided to tie the knot.

No wedding details have been announced yet.  What do you think of the couple? Think this is the real deal?

The Life of a Panhellenic President

Being your campus’ Panhellenic President is a fun, exciting, and challenging role.  There is so much more that goes on “behind the scenes,” when meetings are not going on.  Your Panhellenic President is more than the face of your sorority community.  Your Panhel President does way more than run a meeting every week.  I should know, I was Penn State Erie’s Panhellenic President for the 2012-2013 school year.

A typical day for me went something like this:

Wake up, look over the Panhellenic calendar for that week and see what Panhel was holding or what chapters were holding. If Panhellenic-sponsored events were being held, I checked on the constitution, to make sure we were following policies, unless otherwise decided upon.

Go to class. My mind seemed to be constantly pre-occupied with what needed to be done that day or week, especially during formal recruitment and Greek Week.

In between classes, I would head over to the Panhellenic office to do some work and office hours.  There, I would check my Panhellenic email, respond to the many emails I would receive from Presidents, executive officers, delegates, people in the community (I was contacted so many times for Panhellenic to be involved with community events or campus events) or the advisor.  I always kept a little sticky note in my planner so I could keep track of what I needed to include in my weekly report for the general meeting as well as the private executive board meeting.  I would also use this time to touch base with my officers and committee directors.

Go back to class, feeling better if I used by time in the office wisely.

After classes, I would go home and repeat my office duties, if necessary.

Official Duties:

2 meetings with the Greek Life advisor, one that was just her and myself, and one that was her, myself, and the President of the Interfraternity Council

Meet with the Chancellor at least once a semester

Meet with delegates, presidents, and officers when necessary (at least one per week)

Attend other chapters’ events, as well as the events of the fraternities

My little, Krissy, won “Most Outstanding Chapter Member” for her efforts with Alpha Sigma Tau. In the center is Matt was awarded “Fraternity Man of the Year,” and I am on the right, holding my award for “Sorority Woman of the Year.”

Make sure officers are getting their responsibilities done

Attend “New Member Academy,” a six to eight week program our new members went through to learn about campus resources, the chapters, and Greek Life.

Chair Ad-Hoc committees from time to time

Read the Manual of Information (I tried to read a little bit each day)

Attend IFC meetings

…sometimes more!

Being the President of the Panhellenic Council was by far the most fulfilling position I have ever been blessed to hold.  It was an absolutely wonderful experience and I am so sad I can’t be involved with Panhellenic in the same way (I still reach out to the new President and help her).  If you are thinking about running for presidency, I would really recommend it.  I learned about the other chapters on campus and really got a whole new appreciation for what it means to be in a sorority.  One word of caution: Understand the time commitment and read the duties in your Panehellenic’s local constitution before accepting or running for the position!

Rumor Has It… (6/25/12)

Rumor has it X-Factor judge Simon Cowell recently went under the knife after being seen with suspicious looking bandages behind his right ear.

This rumor is…false.

The 52 year old music mogul was said to have just fallen and cut himself, a source tells Us Weekly. What he cut himself on, is unknown. Hmm…

Rumor has it Johnny Depp bought actress friend Amber Heard a horse.  The two starred together in The Rum Diaries and have maintained a close friendship ever since.  Heard had once described Depp as “absolutely amazing,” so it comes as no surprise that…

this rumor is true.

Depp recently split from longtime girlfriend, Vanessa Paradis, but don’t get carried away think the two could become an item in the near future…or even distant future. Heard came out as a lesbian in December 2010, after the 25th anniversary of GLAAD.  She had a long time relationship with photographer Tasya van Ree.

Rumor Has It… 6/4/12

Rumor has it Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are already moving in together in a Los Angeles home.  According to E! News, the publicly-affectionate couple have been friends for quite some time now.  Also, Kim has a tendency to move fast in relationships.

But slow down a little…this rumor is false.

Life & Style magazine has been saying that Kim’s L.A. home has been put on the market, but stayed under the radar (how would that even be possible?!) and TMZ rumors that Kimye is looking for a rental place together, but sources close to the couple insist that they are living separately and plan to do so.

Here’s something true though: Kim’s L.A. home is on the market for $5 million, but according to E! News, she is in the market for a larger home with more security.

Kardashian's home, which is on the market for $5 million.

Rumor has it Bravo TV star Bethenny Frankel and husband Jason Hoppy are on the verge of divorce! As seen on Bethenny Ever After, tension between the two has been increasingly more and more apparent.  Reports are now saying the two are close to a $100 million dollar divorce (that is NOT a typo! Oh my!).  The two seemed so in love!

They must still be, because this rumor is false…for now.

E! News claims that a source close to Bethenny says their marriage is fine and she and Jason are still together.

Frankel addressed a fan on twitter (who asked about the rumors) by saying everything would be addressed on her new show, The Bethenny Show on June 11.

Thoughts?! Let me know!

Rumor Has It…

Rumor has it teenage heartthrob Justin Bieber broke up with girlfriend, Selena Gomez.  Not only is it rumored that the adorable couple called it quits, but JB is believed to have broken up with Ms. Gomez via TWITTER!  The tweet, which has now been removed read, “”Thank you for the time I had with you but now I have to move on.”

Control yourselves, ladies, because the Biebs is still taken.  This rumor is false!

http://www.justinbieberhood.com/2011/01/default.aspx

Sources tell E! News (http://www.eonline.com/news/true_false_did_justin_bieber_break_up/317531) that the young couple plans to spend as much as time as they can together over the next few months and will reunite next weekend.  Gomez has been in Bulgaria while filming her upcoming film, The Getaway, starring Ethan Hawke.

Rumor has it Kourtney Kardashian kicked longtime boyfriend and baby daddy, Scott Disick, out of their home and their fight was caught on tape while filming Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

http://www.lifeandstylemag.com/2012/05/kourtney-kardashian-kicks-scott-disick-out-of-home-caught-on-tape.html

Before we all start hating on Scott again, keep reading! This rumor is not true!

Kardashian’s mother, Kris Jenner, tells Life&Style magazine that none of the allegations are true.  A source also confirms that the scene in which Disick was kicked out never happened and certainly was not caught on camera.  It has also been said that Disick was not at Kardashian’s co-ed baby shower because he was making promotional appearances in Miami.

Rumor Has It…

Are Seal and Heidi Klum Over Each Other…ALREADY?

Just months after announcing their split, it seems Seal and Heidi  have moved on just fine.

Seal was seen kissing Nick Jonas’ ex Delta Goodrem last Sunday at the Logie Awards in Melbourne, and Heidi Klum was getting cuddly with Germany’s Next Top Model judge Thomas Hayo recently.

http://www.promiflash.de/liebesbeweis-thomas-hayo-fuettert-heidi-klum-12040440.html

This rumor is…false.

Seal judges the Australian version of The Voice with Goodrem.  When asked about the rumor, his rep said, “They are absolutely not dating…The rumors are absurd.”  As for Klum’s rep, there is no comment, but stated that  Hayo is just a fellow judge.

Seal and Klum announced their split in mid-January, following seven years of marriage.

Did Selena and Justin get caught on the Kiss Cam?

This rumor is…TRUE!

The teen idols were enjoying a Los Angeles’ Lakers game last Monday when they were forced to kiss on the big screen.  “It’s the most humiliating thing that’s ever happened to me, probably,” Selena told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS radio show, “They were showing these little elderly couples, and it was so cute. Then all of a sudden we’re both looking up and we come on the screen and it’s like… It was so awkward.”

Rumor Has It…

Rumor has it that LiLo was recently involved in a fight at an L.A. nightclub.  Just under two weeks ago, Lohan’s formal probation ended, but she has already been accused of slipping into her old ways.  According to E! News, a woman filed a battery complaint, claiming Lohan shoved her on after LiLo was upset that the woman was talking to a male friend of Lohan’s.

http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/lindsanity-lindsay-lohan-poised-snl-comeback/story?id=15835337

This rumor is…false.

Lohan’s publicist, Steve Honing told E! News that “there is no truth to the accusations.”

Here’s hoping Lohan’s vow to clean her reputation is still working.

Rumor has it that a fake Twitter account for Hot in Cleveland star Betty White has been created getting verified and all.  The account, @BettyMWhite, recently tweeted, “Hello Twitter! And they said it would never happen. Oh wait, that was me,” and “What a wonderful surprise to have such a warm welcome to twitter- thank you everybody!”  Previously, Betty White has made it public that she does not want to join the social media site.

So is the account really dear Betty? YES!

Her rep claims that the account is her official account.  The golden girl has already done some minor cyber-flirting with American Idol host, Ryan Seacrest.  As of 8:45 Wednesday night, she already brought in more than 163,000 followers!

Stay tuned for more Hollywood rumor next week!

Jersey Shore 3/15/12: The Summer Has Ended

In case you missed last week’s episode, you can catch up here: http://collegelifestyles.org/2012/03/jersey-shore-3812-mike-spills-the-beans/

This is it, folks.  The last episode of season 5, but don’t worry-the show has been picked up for a 6th season, and rumor has it Mama Snooks will still be a cast member!  With rumors circulating about Mike’s time in rehab, who knows if he will be around.

Here’s what happened this week:

The roommates return from their short-lived camping trip to find Vinny and Pauly’s prank.  The girls think it is killer…until they go to their bedrooms, where they find empty spaces.  Not even a can of bronzer.  Nothing.  Jenni thinks they were robbed and the boys just didn’t notice.  The girls certainly aren’t mad or anything (it’s hard to be mad at Vinny and Pauly), while the rest of the roommates love what has happened.  Except Mike.  He is really, really angry.

http://realitytvmagazine.sheknows.com/2012/03/15/jersey-shore-recap-season-finale/

Enjoying their new surroundings, the roommates notice a storm is brewing.  When they notice the grey skies and intense winds, everyone hustles to bring the beds and belongings inside.  Mike is sitting inside, not doing anything but watch his roommates work hard.  He says that he didn’t pull the prank so it isn’t his job to clean it.  Kind of childish, huh?  While they are still bringing things in, the rain starts as a light drizzle.  Mike flips out on Pauly and Vinny because his things are getting wet and ruined.  Vinny offers to help, but Mike says no.  At this point, the rain is falling harder and Mike decides he may go home because his bed is all wet.  Pauly and Vinny move Mike’s things inside because Mike is being a child about it.

While Mike is inside, his brother (the one dating Joanie, Deena’s sister), Frank, calls with Joanie by his side.    They are going to be in Seaside that night and may meet up with the roommates.

Nicole decides she wants to make up with Mike, so she invites him to go out.  While they are out, Mike tells her a rumor:  Frankie and Joanie are smushing and Joanie has some interesting interests in the bedroom (MTV does not reveal what they are, and quite frankly, I’m fine not knowing).

Later that night, they all go to Jenk’s where Vinny meets Jaime and her ex-girlfriend, Ashley.  They ask Vinny if they can be his wingmen for the night, helping him avoid grenades.

On the other side of the club, Frank and Joanie show up.  Nicole pulls Deena aside and tells her about the rumor Mike told her.  Deena says that is her sister’s business and she doesn’t really care.

http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/Jersey%20Shore%20(TV%20Show)

Back with Jaime and Ashley, Vinny decides on the girls he wants that night: Jaime and Ashley.  He says that getting with women who are not into men is a challenge, and he accepts the challenge.

It’s about the middle of the night now, so everyone heads back, including Jaime and Ashley.  Vinny takes them to the smush room and does the unthinkable: Mission accomplished (cue “Go Vinny, Go Vinny!” from show’s intro).  In the kitchen, Deena asks Mike if he has been saying rumors about her family, but Mike (he) makes up a story about how he was on the phone with The Unit and Nicole must have overheard him.

The next day, another storm looks like it is coming, but this one is even worse than the one the day before.  There is booming thunder, streaking and flashing lightning, and insane winds, but no rain.  Suddenly, the tornado horn goes off (Seaside Heights frequently gets tornadoes, so they have a horn to alert the residents if one is spotted), followed by the power going out.  Deena decides she should drive home because she is so scared, but the boys tell her that her idea is one of the dumbest she has ever had and she will get blown away if a tornado hits.

A few hours later the weather mellows out, so they decide to go to Karma.  Vinny and Pauly wear matching shirts, on purpose.  At the club, Frankie and Joanie look really happy.  Deena wants to talk to Frank, so she can ask him if he has discussed their private life with The Unit, but Mike talks her out of it because everyone is having a good time.

The next morning, Sammi surprises the girls with hundreds of water balloons and a slingshot to get back at the boys.

Ronnie and Jenni are making a final family dinner.  The smoke alarm is acting up, so Pauly throws it in the kiddie pool, which is full of water and still in the living room.

The boys go to fly kites outside (This is not an innuendo.  They actually fly kites), opening quite an opportunity for the girls to throw balloons.  They are on a small balcony, where they can fling the balloons to the deck.  Their deck has one exit, which Ron bombards and locks them out with.  He unlocks the door to let Pauly and Vinny on the deck, who corner the girls and completely dominate the water balloon fight.

That was how they spent their last night.

In the morning, Pauly wakes everyone up with his typical yelling.  Sam and Ron are the first to leave.  Rodger arrives with flowers and picks up Jenni.  Mike leaves next.  Then Vinny’s mom shows up and takes her son.  Before leaving, he pummels Pauly with a bear hug.  Deena’s cab arrives and she departs.  Pauly has a friend who collects him.  This leaves Nicole.  Alone and bored, she does a few shots and does a little dancing, but then her dad arrives and they leave, officially ending the summer.

Let’s hear your thoughts on the season!  Do you think Snooki should return to Seaside Heights?  What about Mike?

Jersey Shore 3/8/12: Mike Spills the Beans

This week’s episode starts out with Mike secretly pulling Jionni outside and tells him that he (Mike) and Nicole hooked up before they went to Italy.  Jionni looks Mike in the eyes, shakes his hand, and thanks him for sharing.  Jionni then goes back to bed with Nicole, but first he tells her about the conversation he just had and that he doesn’t believe it’s true.  They fall back asleep.

http://haveuheard.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/jionni.jpg

Later that morning, Mike, Sam, and Ron are on the patio and Mike tells them about the conversation and Jionni barely reacted.  This made Sam question Jionni’s feelings for Nicole.

At breakfast, Nicole yells at Mike for making up rumors and trying to ruin her relationship.  She throws pickles at him, but it starts in good fun, even though she is angry.  Nicole and Jionni decide they should go out and get away from Mike, who is at the house.

Since Mike is at the house, he takes this opportunity to tell Vinny and Pauly about his conversation with Jionni.  The guys laugh and joke that Jionni took is so well because he is probably out cheating too.  They say Nicole and Jionni’s relationship is a joke (hmm…aren’t they engaged and expecting a child now?)

That night, the roommates are having dinner all together.  Nicole suggests they all go camping, exciting everyone but Pauly.  They plan the trip for that week.  Then, a food fight starts.  Everyone is throwing all the food at everyone and loving it…their hotdog and macaroni salad dinner is over everyone…the mood of the house quickly changes…the food fight turns personal- Mike and Nicole are outside throwing everything they get their hand on at the other.  Everyone else is watching, mostly in disbelief.  They all go in the living room to get away from Nicole and Mike.  In the living room, they discuss the situation at hand.  No one is really sure who is telling the truth, but Vinny predicts Mike is because of how angry Nicole is.  He says liars react when they get caught (isn’t is possible Nicole is mad because she doesn’t want her boyfriend to break up with her? Hmm…).

The next morning, Ron, Nicole, and Deena go to their last shift of the summer.  They are making a grocery list for their camping trip, which includes nail glue, bronzer, and extra toilet paper.

At home, Deena calls Joey and invites him to get dinner and hang out on the boardwalk.  He agrees.  Nicole tries to tell Deena this kid isn’t any good for her, but Deena doesn’t listen.  A few minutes later, Pauly and Vinny sit Deena down and say Joey is just using her for sex and she shouldn’t waste her time with him.  The message starts getting through, but she still wants to give him a chance.  When Joey arrives to pick her up, he calls the house and Pauly answers.  He tells Joey that Deena isn’t feeling well and she can’t go out with him tonight.  Joey is mad because he drove a long time to get her.  They hang up, but Joey calls back, hoping to talk to Deena, but on the other end is Jenni.  Jenni goes off on Joey, telling him that he should offer Deena soup or medicine if he cared about her.  She says she hates snakes and will call them out for their behavior and if that is what he is doing with her friend, he better move on.  I sure wouldn’t want to make Jenni mad!  The group goes out anyways, and has a good time at Aztec.  As usual, Nicole stays in with Jionni even though Deena really wants her to come out.

The next day, Pauly and Vinny stay home when everyone else leaves to go camping.  Pauly confesses he wouldn’t have minded going camping, except he has a plan since the house is now empty: They are going to turn the house inside out. The duo invites Danny and other Shore Store co-workers because they need some “man power.”

At the campsite, Mike pitches his tent with no problems.  Jenni and the meatballs get theirs up easily.  Ron is struggling with his and Sam’s, but they work together and get it up.

Meanwhile, Pauly and Vinny are drawing floor plans for each room in the house.  Danny and their co-workers come over, bringing with them astro-turf for the living room.  The house is completely flipped around: The porch furniture is in set up in the living room, the living room is set up outside, their bedrooms are completely empty and set up outside, there is even a kiddie pool inside to be the Jacuzzi.

At the campsite, Mike pulls down an entire branch of a small tree and lights it on fire.  He is starting to feel paranoid and searches the perimeter for bears and serial killers (If I didn’t know what Pauly and Vinny were up to, I’d think they were hiding in the trees as a prank).  Around the fire, the girls discuss the recent situation: their feelings about Nicole’s constant hanging out with Jionni.  She gets defensive, but understands where they are coming from, putting herself in Deena’s shoes.  In the morning, they decide to go home because of all the bugs and spiders.

Next week, there is a special about Nicole’s pregnancy and engagement to Jionni.  It airs on MTV Thursday at 7:30.  See http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1680613/snooki-pregnant-engaged-jionni-lavalle.jhtml for more information!

Oscars: The Best and The Worst

The night of the Academy Awards, millions of viewers tune in to see what (and who!) their favorite stars are wearing.   After looking at tons of pictures, I (and some fellow interns) have decided on a list of CL’s Best and Worst Dressed.

The Best:

5) Michelle Williams

http://www.popsugar.com/Michelle-Williams-Oscars-Pictures-2012-21928929

The My Week with Marilyn nominee looked fabulous in this Louis Vuitton number.  The coral color and subtle jewelry give this star a simple, but elegant look.

4) Tina Fey

http://www.sofeminine.co.uk/entertainment/album839432/oscars-red-carpet-pictures-20647352.html

Though she was only presenting an award, this 30 Rock funny gal looked great in a custom made Carolina Herrara gown.  It was a simple look, but the dangling earring and fancy hair helped her make her way onto our Best Dressed list.

3) Angelina Jolie

http://www.mydaily.co.uk/2012/02/26/angelina-jolie-oscars-2012/

Her black, velvet dress by Versace helped get her on our list.  That, and her arm candy, Brad Pitt. Her lips pop with red color, creating a nice contrast with her gown.  Not a bad slit, either.

2) Missi Pyle

http://greenhouseoffashion.com/2012/02/missi-pyle-also-eco-at-the-oscars/

Missi Pyle, actress from The Artist, rocked the red carpet in this seafoam green, silk dress by Valentino Delfino.  The color and draped sleeve help make this dress look extra great on her, but what is so beautiful about it is that it is green.  This is a cruelty-free, peace-silk, mineral dyed dress.

1) Stacy Keibler

http://shine.yahoo.com/fashion/meryl-streep-stacy-keibler-oscar-tell-difference-181000228.html

Stacy Keibler looks almost as good in this single strap, gold gown as she does with George Clooney on her arm.  Designed by Marchesa, this gown  makes Keibler look like an Oscar.

…Other close contenders: Jennifer Lopez, GwenythPaltrow, and Penelope Cruz

The Worst:

5) Emma Stone

http://www.justjared.com/2012/02/26/emma-stone-oscars-2012-red-carpet/

Emma was overpowered by the large bow by her shoulder and the amount of bold color.  Her dress, designed by GiambattistaValli, blends her in with the carpet itself.

4) Meryl Streep

http://www.jewelista.com/styleguide/index.php/2012-oscars-modern-glamour-rules-the-runway/

The Best Actress winner does not look great in this gold, draping dress.  In fact, it looked like a really shiny bathroom.  Also, it looks much like the dress she wore to the Academy Awards about 20 years ago.

3) Rooney Mara

http://www.instyle.com/instyle/package/oscars/photos/0,,20564210_20573889_21125701,00.html

Rooney Mara looked far too thin in this cream dress designed by Givenchy.  The dress, with a plunging neckline, did not do the The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star any favors.  Her hair looked barely done and her deep red lipstick was not flattering.

2) Melissa McCarthy

http://poponthepop.com/gallery/melissa-mccarthy-oscars/

Marina Rinaldi designed this empire waisted, kind of pink dress.  The dress didn’t flatter her figure, especially with those free flowing sleeves.  Love her acting, don’t like her get up.

1)     Sacha Baron Cohen

http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/304888/20120226/oscars-2012-best-worst-dressed-red-carpet.htm

As a way to promote his new movie, The Dictator, Cohen showed up in his complete dictator outfit.  To top that off, he brought along two military babes, also in costumes.  Later in the night, he threw fake ashes on Ryan Seacrest.  His bad taste and poor judgment puts him right to the top of our worst dressed list.

…Other close calls: Sandra Bullock and Kristen Wiig

Who do you think was best and worst dressed this year?

Spring Fashion Trends: $50 and Under

With Spring Break in just a few weeks, it’s about time to get a new spring wardrobe.  There are ways to look classy and fashionable without maxing out your debit card.

Check out these up-and-coming fashion trends and affordable pieces.  Everything is $50 dollars or lower, so you won’t break the bank and still can have some cash flow left over.

  1. Color Blocking- Color blocking is when you take two or more blocks of solid color and match them together.  It can be done with individual articles of clothing in an outfit or on one piece, like a shirt or dress.  Successful color blocking is really simple.  A color wheel will be your best friend for color blocking.  The most effective ways to color block are using colors that fall directly next to each other on the wheel, like yellow-green and yellow, but that isn’t limiting.  Bold colors go well together too;  Also, you can substitute primary or secondary colors (use pink instead of red) and still follow the color wheel suggestion.

If you prefer bolder prints, larger flowers may be more flattering for you. Height is also important.  Smaller prints look better on shorter gals while bolder prints are more fitting to someone with a few more inches.

Jersey Shore: The Shark Fight

“Take a walk, bro.”  The words, coming from the lips of Jenni’s boyfriend, Roger, should be enough to scare off anyone trying to mess with his girlfriend.  The tattooed bad boy shoves the man and gets himself kicked out of Karma.  The rest of the group goes home with Roger and Jenni.

At home, Jionni goes right upstairs to hug the porcelain goddess.  His girlfriend doesn’t seem to want to care for her man, instead, she knocks on the door and asks him to hurry up because she wants to have sex.  When Jionni cleans up, he goes straight to bed and falls asleep instantaneously.  Nicole is not happy.  She hasn’t seen Jionni in a week and she wants to smush.  How romantic.

Meanwhile, Jenni is changing her clothes, so Ron asks Roger to have a drink outside.  They are enjoying their drinks and chicken salad sandwiches (prepared by Mike).  Jenni yells for Roger to come upstairs, but he is enjoying himself and doesn’t really want to go to bed just yet.  Jenni gets mad and storms off.  On the patio, Deena and Sam are hanging out with Roger and Ron.  The boys are joking about how high maintenance women are and how much they complain.  Weirdly, Sam gives Ron a look but doesn’t say anything.

The next day, the guidos and guidettes are looking for something to do, other than go to the boardwalk.  Deena suggests they go to the docks and fish.  The eight of them are trying to catch their dinner so they don’t have to go grocery shopping.  Somehow, Jenni catches three crabs, but they manage to escape her net and are crawling around the boardwalk, looking for water.  Eventually, the crabs fall back in the water.  Mike isn’t having any luck, so he decides to catch some rays on the dock.  Vinny, seeing the way their roommate is isolating himself, catches a crab and sneakily puts it on Mike’s chest.  Typically, Mike does not respond well.

The meatballs, as always, manage to get themselves into some trouble.  They get a small raft and go out into the water, but neither of them is able to steer it very well.  They end up under a dock, manage to go backwards, in circles, and everywhere they don’t want to go.  The wind is pretty strong, blowing them further away.  Somehow, Ron manages to lay on the dock, reach the raft, and help pull them back up, but the girls are convinced he is going to tip them over.  At this point, the raft is approaching some sharp objects, so the roommates are yelling “Sharp!”  This confuses Deena, who thinks they are yelling, “Shark!” and freaks out.  They jump off the raft to swim to the docks.  Deena is too concerned about the “sharks” in the shallow water to stay in the raft, while Nicole is chasing her alcohol (which is floating away).  When they get out of the water, the group goes home, without dinner.

Deena and Nicole: Fishing Adventures

Deena, Pauly, and Vinny head off to work.  Danny tells Pauly his stalker, Vanessa, has been hanging around the store, but he is too scared to talk to her.  At home, Mike and Nicole are playing ladder golf.  They make a bet that the loser has to wear the bunny suit in public that night.  Nicole brutally loses.  Nicole announces the bunny suit’s name is Lola.  As the group goes to Karma, Nicole is wearing Lola, and she wears it all night, except for when she lets everyone else in the club wear the mask.  After leaving the club, Deena and Nicole want to go to the beach.  They hop the fence and are splashing in the water, which is illegal at this hour.  Busted.  Cops come over and remove them.  Deena thinks the cop is cute and tries to take him home with her.  Fail.

http://www.eonline.com/news/jersey_shore_recap_cast_goes_on_mission/296414

In the morning, Nicole is still drunk and Ron is quite hungover, so she convinces him that the best remedy is more alcohol.  They go to a bar on the boardwalk.  While they are there, Nicole excuses herself for a minute.  She returns with a mini motorcycle that Ron showed interest in a few days ago.

Mike, Jenni, and Pauly go to work.  Vanessa is there.  Jenni calls her outside and asks what the deal is.  Vanessa, wearing a trucker hat that says, “Pauly D,” and a shirt that says, “DJ Pauly D,” says she doesn’t know what Jenni is talking about.  Jenni asks her what is in her bag.  She answers it is a blanket, but won’t show Jenni.  Jenni suspects there is something wrapped in the blanket-something heavy or a chainsaw.

On the phone with Jionni, Nicole is arguing with him because she was just being herself.  Vinny, who overhears this, is saddened for his friend.  He takes Nicole to the boardwalk to have a good time, admitting his intentions with her are questionable because they are drunk.  On the way home, Nicole asks if they can cuddle and shower together that night.  Vinny agrees to cuddle.

There are only 3 episodes left.  Next week, there is a camping trip in store.

Jersey Shore 2/16/12: Who Ate The Cake?

In the living room, the Meatballs are being encouraged to make an apologetic gesture to Danny for their recent behavior while on the clock, so they make him a delicious cake with a nice message on it.  They cover the cake and leave it on the counter overnight.

In the morning, Ron and Sam wake up early for work, but Ron has to wake up Deena.  They eventually migrate to the kitchen and notice there is a considerable piece missing from the corner of the cake.  Questioning who it is, they decide it must have been Mike.  Deena has to take the cake to Danny anyways, and she feels really bad because their gift is missing a piece, but Danny appreciates the snack still.

At the house, Nicole calls the doctor’s office because her UTI is hurting and she is starting to wonder if there is something else wrong.  She schedules an appointment and brings Jenni along.  The doctor puts her on medication and tells her she can only have one drink during each sitting while on the antibiotics.

Back at the store, Danny gives Deena a break, so she decides to get a sleeve of henna tattoos done.  When she gets back to the store, Danny shares the cake with all of the coworkers.  He asks Deena if the cake has an unusual odor, so she smells a piece, falling for his trick, and he shoves the cake in her face.  Deena was a good sport about it.  Ron, Sam, and Deena finish their shift with no further drama.

In the evening, Mike, Jenni, and Nicole are scheduled to work, however Mike is the only one who shows up on time because the girls are still at the doctor’s office.  Not knowing where they are, Danny calls the house and speaks to Vinny, who fills in the boss.  When the girls do show up (about an hour late), they have doctor’s excuses, but that doesn’t cut it.  Danny makes them do extra work and lifting heavy boxes.  Near the register, Danny asks Mike if he really ate the cake, but Mike swears it wasn’t him.

At home, everyone else is having a good time when Pauly confesses something to Deena.  He said that after everyone went to bed, he smelled the cake from his room, tried to resist (but failed), and ate a few forkfuls of cake.  Deena laughs it off, as do the other roommates.  Mike and Deena run into each other and she tells him about her cake-eater theories making Mike mad that she was accusing him.  Scanning the area for eavesdroppers, Mike calls a friend, looking for The Unit.  The friend says The Unit is still away but should be returning the next day.  This pushes off Mike’s plans to ruin Nicole and Jionni’s relationship.  The group decides to spend the night dancing at Karma.

When they get there, Mike runs into Paula, who says her birthday is the next day.  Hearing this, Jenni buys a round of shots to celebrate.  Nicole takes one, despite her doctor’s orders.  She then decides not drinking is too hard for her, so she drinks…and drinks…and drinks.  When the club closes, Mike invites Paula over for the night.  In his confessional, he says she is his “main squeeze” and that he “can’t find anything wrong with her.”

The next day, Pauly and Vinny complete their typical GTL and go to lunch.  At the restaurant, Vinny misplaces the car keys, but with the help of an employee, they find the missing keys.

That night, the group decides to check out Jenks.  Deena calls Joey to invite him to go.  He agrees to meet them there.  Nicole says Jenks will be boring, so she chooses to stay home, Jenni is sleeping, and Mike is napping as well.  The only ones to go to Jenks are Vinny, Pauly, Sam, Ron, and Deena.  There, Ron gets extremely intoxicated (have you missed drunk Ron?) and Sam is loving every minute of it.  Isn’t it refreshing to see those two lovebirds in a healthy relationship?

At the house, Mike wakes up and is smoking on the party deck.  Nicole brings the mask to her bunny suit to be Paula, so Mike has a companion.  She asks him to go out with her, but he isn’t in the mood…to go out.  He is in the mood for Nicole though.  He tries creeping on her, saying they should hook up and “have fun.”  There’s a situation, huh?  Nicole is completely turned off by her roommate’s offer and leaves him alone.

Pauly gets home earlier than the others who went out, so he plays a joke on Deena (who is having Joey over for the night).  He takes all the dirty dishes from the kitchen and puts them on her bed.  When Deena gets home and sees them all, she asks Joey to wait in the living room while she cleans.  In the living room, Jenni and Nicole keep Joey company.  Nicole continuously says, “merp.”  When Deena is done, she and Joey go to her room to have sex.  Still in the living room, Nicole says she is bored and goes to watch Deena and Joey.

The next day, Mike calls The Unit.  The conversation is short and not much of anything important is said, but Mike wants it to be known that he is not a liar.  That night, Roger is coming to visit.  Jenni opens the door wearing a skimpy black dress with gold chains dangling on the sides and a small strip of fabric in the middle to connect the top and bottom halves.  She leaves little to the imagination, but Roger loves it.

When the group gets to Karma, fights are breaking out everywhere (not between anyone on the show).  A guy is messing with Jenni, touching her and trying to get her to come spend time with her.  Roger calmly asks the guy to back off, but the stranger does not and punches Roger in the side of the head.

How do you think Roger is going to handle the situation?  Is The Unit finally going to tell Jionni the “truth?”

Jersey Shore 2/9/12: Does Pauly Have Another Stalker?

The phone is ringing.  Mike scans the room to make sure no one is within earshot.  He is waiting for someone to answer on the other end.  Finally, The Unit says hello.  Mike asks Unit to do him a favor.  He wants Unit to come to the house and tell Jionni the truth about Snooki’s alleged cheating.  Unfortunately for Mike, Unit is in Miami, so the two continue to do some gossiping, when Unit reveals that Mike’s older brother, Frank, has gone on a date with Deena’s sister, Joanie and they smushed.

Then Snooki says goodbye to her Dad, outside, completely unaware of the conversation that just happened inside.

On the party deck, Jenni is upset about Roger and Deena tries to comfort her by telling her she has pretty hair.

The group gets to Aztec, but Mike chose to stay at the house.  At Aztec, the party is hopping.  There are tons of dancing people and the music is blasting.  Jenni is in a funk because of her suspected relationship problems, so decides to leave shortly after arriving.  At the club, Vinny meets a girl, Deanna, who he rates as a 5 or 6.  He decides to keep her as a backup, just in case he doesn’t spot someone higher on the scale.  Luckily for Vinny, he meets Nikki, a 7 or 8.  He ditches Deanna, but she shortly returns, seeing Vinny with another girl.  Deena takes Deanna to the dance floor so Vinny can be with Nikki.  Snooki is bored and confused with Jenni, so she walks home.

When everyone else leaves, Nikki and Deanna are with the group, along with a random blonde girl Pauly picked up.  At the front door of the house, Nikki says she is a lesbian and will not be going inside.  Deanna, though, is inside with Deena.  Vinny and Deanna spend some alone time together, as do Pauly and the blonde girl.  They share the room as they smush their girls.

Jenni finally gets ahold of Roger, who claims his friend broke his phone at the beach and he called off work the past few days because he didn’t have a phone.  Jenni does not believe this story at all and is furious with him.

In the morning, Snooki wakes up, still drunk, and tries to get on the hammock on the party deck.  In a confessional, she says she needs AA and that the sun is too bright outside, so she should go to Arkansas because it is always dark in Arkansas.  She goes inside and falls asleep in the smush room.

In the afternoon, Jenni gets a call from Roger who is supposed to be there at 4:00 for an afternoon at the beach.  He calls and says he won’t be there until close to 5:30.  He asks to reschedule, but that isn’t sitting well with his girlfriend.  She freaks out on him and says she does not feel like a priority in his life.

Pauly and Team Meatball head to the Shore Store for work.  Pauly is the only one actually doing his job.  Team Meatball is literally chasing each other and running around the store, like children.  They then decide to just leave work altogether, upsetting Danny.  In the store, Pauly notices a girl who he has been seeing lately.  She is sitting on a bench, just staring at him.  He said he first saw her a few days ago because she bought something from the store, but she did not speak to him at all.

When Team Meatball gets back to work, a woman approaches Snooki about bars on the boardwalk because she is celebrating her bachelorette party.  The meatballs sneak off with this woman to drink. For the second time in one shift, they have angered their boss.

At the house, Mike wakes up from a nap and is angry because everyone left without him.  He is feeling left out, so he crawls back in bed and falls asleep.  Snooki eventually wakes him up and asks him to go out with her and Deena, and he agrees.

Meanwhile, Pauly and Vinny are at a pool hall playing pool and chatting up a nice girl.  Out of nowhere, Pauly’s stalker comes up to him and introduces herself, her name is Vanessa.  Vinny takes the nice girl and they leave Pauly alone with Vanessa.  When Pauly makes an excuse to get away, he does, and goes to find Vinny.

At the bar, Mike says he is keeping his friends close and his enemies closer.  Team Meatball does not realize what Mike is doing.

In the morning, Pauly tells Deena that Danny is really mad at them for running off a few times.  Ronnie suggests that she goes to the store and apologize, but Deena decides to cowardly call him instead.  She apologizes and asks if he is going to fire her (meaning she would have to leave the house).  Danny says, “We’ll see what happens.”

At dinner (they are having Chinese food), it is brought up that Frank and Joanie have gone on a second date.  No one really knows the scoop, but they joke about Mike and Deena being sister and brother in law.

Mike sneaks off to call Unit again.  This time, he wants info about Frank and Joanie.  According to the Unit, Frank is planning to hit and quit Joanie.

Almost immediately after, Joanie calls the house.  She asks Mike about Frank, where he says he may have his guard up because he recently got out of a nine year relationship.  Mike also asks Joanie to deliver a message to Deena the next time she talks to her: He is a nice guy because Deena think he is the devil.

While working out, the guys run in to Roger, who is discussing his recent phone call with Jenni.  Vinny agrees that Jenni is being immature about it and that she needs to man up and call her boyfriend to apologize.  At home, Vinny casually slips in that she should be the bigger person with Roger, so she called him.  He tells her that he didn’t do anything and isn’t going to apologize for it and that she needs to learn to trust him because he hasn’t done anything to disobey her.

Jersey Shore Recap: 2/2/12

To kick off this episode, the roommates got back to the shore, Vinny included.  At the house, Pauly fills in Vinny, making a point to comment on the strange niceness coming from Mike.  Deena suggests that they all go out to Karma that night to celebrate the eight of them being together again.  Before going out, Jenni thinks there is something wrong with her and Rodger.  She gives him a quick phone call, but he does not answer.

On the party deck, Mike says he wants to get a tattoo that says, “Loyalty & Betrayal.”  Ronnie jokes about how Mike knows everything about Betrayal and nothing about Loyalty.

As soon as the group arrives at Karma, Mike goes off and does his own thing while Pauly and Vinny play wingmen for each other.  Later at Karma, Snooki pees her pants.  She goes to the bathroom to, “freshen up,” which actually means spraying incredible amounts of perfume on her, to mask the smell.  This is, apparently, called a “shore shower.”  When they get home, Deena says goodnight to all the boys.  She then says, “I love you,” to Pauly and Vinny and asks that they return the favor.  The guys laugh and don’t reciprocate.  This upsets Deena.

In the morning, Snooki wakes up before everyone else, still in her red dress and black heels from the night before, walks to the kitchen, and takes off the dirty underwear and throws it away.  When Deena wakes up, she realizes her fused extensions and her clip-in extensions have gotten tangled overnight.  She goes to the bathroom to try to solve her problem and ends up wetting the extensions and blow drying them to help untangle them.  Using the blow dryer, Deena accidentally electrocutes herself.  She was fine.  She told Sammi she just felt the current running through her arm.  The two girls discuss their theories on electricity, which of course, are brilliant.

During the day, everyone wants to go to Jenks, an outdoor restaurant and bar.  Before going, Jenni tries to call Rodger again, but he ignores the call.  While getting ready, Snooki decides to wear two pairs of underwear, “just in case.”  When the groups gets to Jenks, Mike runs into two random friends, which makes the other guys wonder if they are actually friends or just people Mike met at a club before.  At the bar, Snooki says she needs to go to the bathroom again and it really hurts, so she says she has another UTI.  In order to stop the pain, her solution is to take shots of tequila.  She gets a number of shots for herself and Deena.  After spending a few hours at Jenks, the group decides to go to batting cages, but Mike says he is having a good time and chooses to stay.

After the batting cages, the group meets up with him again and Snooki, Deena, and Mike ride in the cab together.  In the cab, Mike alludes to how nice he has been lately but he still feels like he is the odd man out.  The girls say that may be because he rarely hangs out with them; He prefers to do his own thing.

When they get back, all of the bathrooms in the house are occupied, so Snooki urinates on the back porch.  She covers it with shorts.  On the party deck, Snooki, Deena, and Mike are together, where Mike tells them he does not have a hidden agenda for his sudden niceness, pursuing the topic yet again.  Snooki tells him that the roommates don’t really trust him.  This upsets Mike, leading him to want to confront the rest of the roommates.  Asking the guys to be honest with him, Mike asks if he has done anything to make them angry.  They say no.  Pauly speculates that Mike was just intoxicated.

That night, the group decides to hang out at their house.  They are hanging out on the party deck when Team Meatball decides to play a prank.  They go inside, while everyone slowly migrates back inside as well.  Snooki dresses in the bunny costume and one at a time, she ransacks her roommates.  With Pauly, she pins him down and makes suggestive gestures.

Back outside, they play a game called, “Warm Beer,” which is actually not a game, but a joke to be played on Snooki.  In the “game,” they tell Snooki that it is a memory game and involves drawing pictures on the face of the person to your left.  What is really happening is that Ronnie is putting soot on Snooki’s face.  She has no idea until she goes inside to go to the bathroom.  Though she finds the prank funny, she wants revenge.

Mike goes to bed early because he has a headache.  Snooki puts on the bunny mask, climbs on Mike (in his bed), and wakes him up, scaring him.

At work in the morning, Deena makes a pair of underwear that say, “I Jersey Turnpike,” so that when she Jersey turnpikes, they are visible.

At the house, Jenni and Snooki are getting their hair done when Snooki’s dad shows up.  She forgot he was coming today, but doesn’t mind sending him to the store for cranberry juice.

Mike is on the boardwalk after work one day when he runs into Rodger.  When he gets home, Jenni is talking to Snooki’s dad about her suspected relationship problems, and Mike informs her that he just ran into Rodger and that he was going to the beach with some buddies.

While Snooki and her dad are spending time together, Mike says he thinks Snooki is the real trouble maker of the house, not him.  He also admits that he is going to call the Unit to finish the “unfinished business.”

What do you think is going to happen with the Snooki-Mike-Jionni-Unit frenzy?

Jersey Shore- 1/26/12

The beginning of the most recent episode of Jersey Shore was with Danny, the gang’s landlord and boss, coming to the house giving them some bad news: He had a deal that there would be eight people living in the house and working for him and because Mike did the dip, no one works very hard, and Vinny is gone, he is going to find two new people to live there.  Not one person was ok with it.  Shortly after, Mike comes back and gets filled in by JWOWW.

Mike admits that he isolates himself on purpose every year on his birthday just to see who will go out of their way to make sure he ok and to say happy birthday.

Next, Pauly, Deena, and Snooki are at work, and actually working hard, hoping to avoid new roommates.  After work, they all get fake tattoos.

At home, Deena calls Vinny to invite him to the surprise party being planned for Pauly and Mike and to tell him about Danny’s visit.  Vinny says he is “working on” coming back to the house and won’t be up for the party, but he is appreciative of the invite.  Later in the day, the girls go to Karma (where the party is being held) and discusses the strippers with an employee.  The male employee creeps all the girls out because of the way he talks to them and the things he asks about for the party (at one point, one of the girls comments that they aren’t trying to direct a porn film, just want something for their party).  The girls decorate Karma for the party, that night.

Later that day, JWOWW shows up for work on time, while Ron and Mike are late.  The boys know they are running late and they feel like jerks for it, especially because of the talk they had with Danny.  Danny is really angry that they are late, and decided to post “Help Wanted” signs throughout the store.  The signs receive a lot of attention.  There are a lot of women who approach Danny about the signs.  Shortly after, JWOWW sees the signs and rips them down.  Danny notices his signs are down and makes JWOWW make him a new one.  JWOWW is livid about the possibly of having someone new come in.  Ronnie chimes in, saying that if they get a new roommate, he or she will not be welcome and will never feel comfortable in the house because the roommates have been through so much together.

At the same time, the meatballs decide to go get more supplies and decorations for the surprise party.  They end up with balloons and bunny suits.

Rodger arrives for the party and soon they are right out the door for the surprise party.  When they get to Karma, Pauly and Mike are surprised as heck.  Neither of them had any idea and assumed they were going out for “a regular Thursday night.”  Snooki and Deena handcuff the birthday boys into wheelchairs and watch the strippers put on a show.  After the show, everyone is dancing and having a good time.  Mike is spending time with one of the strippers and Pauly met a brunette girl who was just at the party.  Both women spend the night at the house.

At home, Ronnie and Deena call Vinny and he ignores the call.  The two decide to just sit outside instead.  When they are on the porch, Ronnie gets emotional about Vinny.  It looks like his eyes are filling with tears.  Deena, sounding defeated, says she doesn’t think Vinny is going to return.

The next day, the group decides to do a “couples night.”  Deena calls Joey, her friend from last episode, and he agrees and will meet her at the house around 7:30.  Deena goes to find Snooki.  They try on their bunny costumes and then decide it would be funny to play a practical joke on JWOWW.  Deena tells her that she needs help getting something from underneath her bed and Snooki hides in the bathroom, dressed as a rabbit.  When JWOWW is in the bedroom, Snooki jumps out and they all have a good laugh, and JWOWW has a scream.

At some point that day, Jionni comes to visit, bring his girlfriend a dozen long-stemmed red roses.  The two decide to occupy the smoosh room and then fall asleep.  Everyone else goes out for couples night.  In the car, the girls raise concerns that when Jionni is there, Snooki never wants to go out.  Within five minutes of being at the club, there is a fight.  A girl fight.  Sam is involved.  Sam got kicked out of the club, along with the other women who were fighting.  Sam told her friends that someone came up behind her and pulled her new weave.  Deena wore fairy wings out.  They all went home.

Deena and Joey were trying to “spend time together,” but couldn’t because of an alarm clock that kept going off, even after Deena unplugged it from the wall.  Paula is over, and Mike had her stay the night.  He admits in a confessional that is really into her and hasn’t found anything wrong with her yet.

Pauly is just kind of walking around , not doing much, and says he is getting in a funk without Vinny around.  The roommates decide the only thing to do is to drive to Staten Island to kidnap Vinny.  First, they stop at the shore store to make shirts that all have “Vinny” sayings on them.  Mike’s says, “Vinning,” and Pauly’s said, “Free Vinny.”  Danny is really excited for them to get Vinny and bring him back.  When they get to Staten Island, they go crazy pounding on the doors and windows.  They barge in “like a S.W.A.T. team.”  Vinny is upstairs and they all hug him and show him love and affection.  He shows them a new tattoo he got across the top of his chest.  It reads, “Let Go, Let God,” in fancy cursive writing.  They ask him to come back, and he agrees.  In a confessional, he says he isn’t 100% better, but he thinks he can do the rest of his recovery at the shore.  He throws some belongings in a garbage bag and is on his way, but not without saying goodbye to his very upset mother.  The roommates are all together and going back to the shore.

Next week we can expect more bunny costumes and some unfinished business from Mike.

What do you think his unfinished business will be?
