If you’re a classy co-ed going out with gentlemen friends this Halloween, you’re probably wondering – how will I fit in with the guys? What theme could we have for group costumes? Never fear! CL is here with three “one of the guys” group costume ideas.
The cast of “New Girl.”
For you:
The always fabulous and quirky Zooey Deschanel brings her signature style to this sitcom. Use Jess’s every day glasses, a cute sundress (and maybe a tiny, sparkly top-hat) to bring her character to life.
For the guys:
- For Nick, pull a red and grey hoodie out and get your guy to use his “mean old guy” voice.
- For Schmidt…well, we’ll let you get creative with the many looks of Schmidt. If you’re up-to-date with episodes, we have one word for you: “DANGER.”
- As for Coach, a button-down with a pair of khakis and a basketball for a prop will do.
The cast of “Big Bang Theory.”
For you:
Your options are Penny, Bernadette or Amy:
- For Penny, stick to true-California girl style with some self-tanner, a cute tank and some shorts. Add some slippers and a laundry basket as props OR try her Cheesecake Factory uniform.
- Bernadette’s curly hair and glasses will get you into her character, along with a nice dress and cardigan. Don’t forget to scream at your “Howard” at some point during the party.
- For Amy, her signature style of long dresses and sweaters, glasses, and clipped back hair will unleash your inner geek-chic. Study up on some neurobiology before you walk out the door.
For the guys:
- Leonard’s costume is easiest: just a hoodie, t-shirt (think “Star Wars” or “Star Trek”) and pants – don’t forget the glasses!
- Raj’s costume consists of a sweater vest, floral shirt, nice pants and shoes.
- For Howard, tight jeans and a huge belt add flair to a snug sweater.
- Sheldon’s is the most difficult – see what day the party is, and then match your man’s costume his shirt of the day!

The cast of “The Avengers.”
For you:
Kick some butt as Scarlett Johansson’s character, the Black Widow, in a black zip-up, yoga pants and heels. Wig optional, but a nice touch.
For the guys:
At this point in the season, finding Avenger’s costumes should be easy – check your local costume store for Hulk, Captain America, Hawkeye, Thor and Iron Man outfits.
