October 6, 2012 | by

The holiday season means parties, family gatherings, and yummy desserts! If you’re looking for new recipes for this season, check out how to do cake pops yourself.

Supplies:

    1 box of cake mix
    1 tub of icing
    Melting Chocolate
    Lollipop sticks
    A large bowl
    A large spoon
    Styrofoam

Step 1: Bake cake according to the directions on the box.

Step 2: After the cake is completely cool, mix the cake into a large bowl with one tub of icing. Mix the cake and icing with your hands until they are evenly mixed.

Step 3: Roll this new mixture into individual cake balls. You should be able to get roughly 30 cake balls from one box of cake mix.

Step 4: Place cake balls on a baking sheet and cool in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes.

Step 5: Melt chocolate in a microwavable bowl for 60 seconds. Mix the chocolate at the 30-second mark and 60 second mark. Chocolate should be completely melted.

Step 6: Dip the tip of a lollipop stick into the chocolate and then directly into a cake ball. Do this for each individual cake ball.

Step 7: Take a tablespoon of chocolate and roll a cake pop in the chocolate until it is completely covered.

Step 8 : Place the cake pops in the Styrofoam an inch away from each other. Allow the cake pops to cool in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Decorating ideas:

Use different color icings for festive and savvy holiday schemes.
Sprinkles will stick well to the chocolate, so take advantage of different shapes or vibrant colors.
Drizzle chocolate or create patterns with melted chocolate to make your pops even more fabulous.
