How To Vote: Registration Deadlines

One of the biggest elections is coming up, so it is important that you register to vote. Every state has different deadline days for voter registration. Here’s the list of each state’s registration deadline. Make sure you register, so you are able to vote in this year’s election.

Alabama

            Postmarked 11 days before the election (October 26, 2012)

Alaska

            Received 30 days before the election (October 6, 2012)

Arizona

            Received 29 days before the election (October 9, 2012)

Arkansas

            Postmarked 30 days before the election (October 6, 2012)

California

            Postmarked 15 days before the election (October 22, 2012)

Colorado

            Received 29 days before the election (October 9, 2012)

Connecticut

            Postmarked 14 days before the election (October 23, 2012)

            Received 7 days before the election (October 30, 2012)

Delaware

            Postmarked by the fourth Saturday before a general or primary election (October 13, 2012)

District of Columbia

            Postmarked 30 days (October 9, 2012)

            You may also register in person on Election Day as long as you can provide proof of residency. (November 6)

Florida

            Postmarked 29 days before the election (October 9, 2012)

Georgia

            Postmarked by the fifth Monday before the election (October 9, 2012)

Hawaii

            Received at least 30 days before the election (October 9, 2012)

Idaho

            Postmarked 25 days before the election (October 12, 2012)

            You may also register in person on Election Day (November 6, 2012)

Illinois

            Postmarked 28 days before the election (October 9, 2012)

Indiana

            Postmarked 28 days before the election (October 9, 2012)

Iowa

            Postmarked 15 days before an election (October 22, 2012)

            Received 10 days before General and Primary Elections (October 27, 2012)

Kansas

Montana

Nebraska

            Postmarked the third Friday before the election (October 19, 2012)

            Received by 6pm on the second Friday before the election (October 26, 2012).

Nevada

New Hampshire

            Received 10 days before the election (October 27, 2012)

New Jersey

Wisconsin

Wyoming

            Received 14 days before the election (October 22, 2012)

            You may also register in person on Election Day(November 6, 2012)

Thirty days before Election Day is Monday, October 8, Columbus Day. Since it is a holiday and the post office will be closed on this date, several deadlines have been changed.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Make sure you are properly registered before your deadline so you are able to vote on Election Day.
