DIY: Halloween Decor
September 13, 2012 | by

It’s almost officially fall and the spookiest holiday of the year is creeping up on us. as we progress into the month of September. Consider these DIY dorm decoration projects that will put you and your dorm into the Halloween spirit in no time!

1. Painted pumpkins – Carving a pumpkin is fun, but  it can be messy and time consuming. Pick up some paint at your local craft store and get creative. This no-frills way of decorating  is great for polka dots, neon colors,or monograms.

2. Door décor – Give your front door character by creating a scary face. Whether it is a mummy, vampire or a zombie, passers- by will surely be spooked. Paper plates are good for eyes and toilet paper can serve as good hair and other facial features. You’ll have all other materials needed for this project lying around (tape and scissors)!

3. Wall banner – If you want to decorate your walls, make a colorful banner. Cut out several triangles from construction paper and punch two holes on each side so you can string a thin rope through. It’s up to you how you’d like to decorate each triangle:whether you want them each to be different or uniform. Then string a thin rope through the triangles so you can hang it up.

4. Shadow silhouettes – What better to scare your neighbors with than a dark shadow in your window? Come up a with a rough outline of a figure you’d like to hang on your window and cut the shape out from black construction paper. Tape will secure it onto your window and if you dim your lights, the silhouette will almost look real from afar.
