Fall is right around the corner! Crisp air, flushed cheeks and hot cocoa can be expected to pop into our lives very soon. As the temperature begins to drop, we need to make sure our wardrobe heats it up a notch. When the fall collections hit the runway earlier this year, College Lifestyles noted a few trends that every classy co-ed should sport this autumn.
1. Oversized Coats. A bit dramatic? Yes of course! But that’s what makes it fun. If you want to stand out at any social event, this is the look for you. Make sure to wear fitted under-layers, like with skinny or straight jeans. The outer space look is not cute – we still want to see your shape! Trust us, this look will make a big statement in a good way.
2. Black Leather. Dark Knight, CL style. This look can be overdone quite easily, so be careful when putting together this trend. Pick out one or two leather (fake of course) pieces and pair with other black garments. Add a pop of color with accessories, but make sure your overall look is black.
3. Focus on the Waist. One of the best trends for fall 2012 is emphasizing your small waist. And yes, we all have a small waist, so the trick is to show it, not hide it! Peplum looks amazing on pretty much anyone, and there are now several dresses and jackets that have it. Don’t want to go shopping? Just add a small belt around your waist and presto! You have now created a peplum shirt.
4. Fur Accents. Trying to stay warm and still fashionable can be tricky. However, fur accents are a huge hit this fall. Don’t just limit yourself to the typical fur vest – explore and dig a little bit deeper. Try fur boots, fur earrings, fur skirts, and even fur collars. Not only will you stay warm and cozy, but you will also look adorable.
Have fun playing up these trends in your own way. There is no need to go and buy new clothes. More than likely, you have some items in your closet that could make your wardrobe work at the fall 2012 front line. Be visionary and clever. Happy creating!
