So what exactly is a single, CLassy, and fabulous woman like yourself supposed to do with their lives this summer? LIVE IT! As a single woman myself, I have found so many things I want to accomplish in my life before it’s time to settle down.
Here is my Top 7:
School! Get your Bachelor’s degree, your Masters degree, your Doctorate, your Ph.D. Heck, get two of them! Never stop learning, because once the learning ends, the work never stops – especially when the, dare I say it, children come along. Take this time to appreciate not having to answer to anyone.
Host a GNO (or a Girls Night In) For the single and for the taken – some girls are often too wrapped up in their relationships to remember the true value of friends. Take this night to remind them how much we truly need each other.
Date Just because you are single does not mean you are going to be labeled this way forever. Date around. Be a wing-woman; sometimes it’s not always about you. Date an older man, who makes you feel like a million bucks. Date someone who makes you laugh until it hurts. Date someone who makes you nervous. Date someone in your “friend zone.” Nice guys always finish last… if you give him a chance, he might even win your heart.
Volunteer What better way to spend your free time than by donating it to those who really need it? Not only are you helping others, but you are also helping yourself by gaining perspective. Babysit someone else’s child, I guarantee you’ll likely really appreciate the single life.
Buy that Stunning LBD You know you want to.
Witness Something Once in a Lifetime That meteor shower that doesn’t come around for another billion years? Grab a blanket, some snacks, and your girlfriends.
See the World Everyone says it, but how many actually do it? Immersing yourself in another culture can be one of the most rewarding experiences of a lifetime. I do realize this can be expensive, so start by starting a fund and saving half of each paycheck! I promise it will be worth it. I’ve used Kayak and have found some great international deals!
Doing all of these things not only help remind you of all the wonderful perks of being single, but it also teaches you about independence, helps you gain confidence, prepares you for the beautiful relationship just around the corner, and reminds you to love yourself.
