Operation Beautiful is an organization that focuses on ending negative self-talk by posting notes in public places that inspire individuals to remember they are beautiful just the way they are. The editor and founder of Operation Beautiful is Caitlin Boyle. Boyle also blogs about her healthy lifestyle at Healthy Tipping Point. She was inspired to start Operation Beautiful after a hard day at work. This organization shows that a simple gesture such as a post-it note has the ability to change someone’s life in a positive way. The main point: We are all beautiful. Boyle took the time to answer some questions about Operation Beautiful and living a healthy college lifestyle as a CL lady.
- Has Operation Beautiful created as much success as you had hoped?
Operation Beautiful has been successful beyond my imagination. I never even started off with the goal of creating a site and book, so the success has been very surprising.
- What is your recommendation for college women trying to eat a healthy diet?
My advice would be to ditch the packaged diet food and focus on eating real, wholesome foods, like veggies.
- What is your recommendation for college women trying to get optimal exercise?
My advice would be to remember that walking is a great form of exercise. If you don’t have to time squeeze in a gym sesh, you can always take the long route to class and count it as cardio!
- If you could tell college girls struggling with body image issues anything, what would you say?
You are beautiful, just the way you are, because of who you are on the inside.
Operation Beautiful has been inspiring people from all around the globe since June 2009. Boyle has received over 7,000 notes and the organization is growing every day. Boyle authored a book titled Operation Beautiful: Transforming the Way You See Yourself One Post-It Note at a Time that includes 125 notes and stories. College Lifestyles agrees with Operation Beautiful and the inspiring message it presents. Check out CL’s Beauty by Confidence Campaign. At the end of the day, it is most important to remember that you are good enough just the way you are.
Maggie Young is a rising junior at the University of Kansas majoring in journalism. She is a firm believer in the power of confidence and positivity. She hopes that messages from Operation Beautiful, Beauty by Confidence and the like will influence girls to stop doubting themselves and to start living because they deserve fulfilled life journeys.
