Getting Fit The Wii Way

It’s the beginning of the year and many of you have probably made getting fit and healthy your New Year’s resolution.  It may come as no surprise that you spend a few weeks at the gym and then get bored, and don’t return again until the following January.  I expressed many of the same habits until I released how easy and fun working out at home could be.  I have turned to my Nintendo Wii and have decided to get fit the Wii way.

There are many Wii games out there designed for fitness and lifestyle as well as fun.  You can combine some of the different games together or find the one best for you and stick to that!

Wii Fit Plus: Wii Fit Plus will change the way you think about exercising.  With a combination of fun games and fitness workouts you can change your exercise habits.  This game offers yoga, balance games, strength training, aerobics, and fun activities.  All you need is your Wii balance board and your set to go.

The Biggest Loser Challenge: After watching countless seasons of the Biggest Loser and reading articles about the contestants, I was motivated to try this Wii game.  As you work with Bob and Jillian you can set goals for yourself, as well as compete against family and friends.  You can preset workouts for four, eight, and 12 weeks depending on the results you want to see.  Add a stability ball and resistance bandx to enhance the workout.

Zumba Fitness: If you love Zumba or love to dance this is the perfect fitness program for you.  Zumba Fitness for Wii is comprised of 30 routines that are sure to make you sweat by the end of the day.  The international dance steps and exciting Latin music are sure to make you shake every body part and have fun as well.  You will burn hundreds of calories while laughing away with your friends and family.

Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2011: This is the third game released by Jillian Michaels, one of the trainers for the Biggest Loser.  This game allows you to work your entire body and get one-on-one training tips from Jillian.  Jillian can design set programs for you or you can choose when you want to do activities.  Enhance your results by using the Wii Balance Board or Wii MotionPlus along with the game.

Working out can be fun and exciting if you choose the workouts that best suite you.  Pick an activity that you will enjoy and won’t struggle to finish.  All of these games provide various activities to choose from and if you find a workout you like you can save it and return to it again.  Now, turn on your Wii, plug in a game and begin the fun!
