CL Encourages You to Become an Angel!

For the second year in a row the Salvation Army and JC Penney have joined forces to offer an online Angel adoption program. This is a national, online adoption program that allows individuals to provide people all of ages in need with Christmas gifts. Some of these people may be experiencing financial hardships and may not otherwise receive a Christmas gift.
I became an Angel over Thanksgiving break after my mom encouraged me to do so. The program is truly rewarding and I highly recommend at least looking into it and suggesting it to other friends.
I adopted a 9-year-old girl from Auburn, N.Y.. She requested socks/shoes, books, DVD’s, hair products, and pants/bottoms. I was so excited to buy her everything and I even bought her a few special extra gifts!
When you choose an angle you can select where they live, age group and the gender. The age groups are broken into 5 categories, Infant which is 0 to 24 months, Toddler which is 2 to 4 year olds, Child, which is 5 to 10 year olds, Teen which is 11 year olds and over, and Senior which are 65 year olds and over.
Process
- Sign on to http://angel.jcpenney.com/ and become an Angel.

- Choose the kind of angel you want and you will receive an email about your person. Don’t worry everyone sizes for all the clothing will be provided.
- Time to shop! It is preferred that you buy everything on your Angel’s wish list but it is not required. If you can’t complete an entire list by yourself think about adopting an Angel with a group of family or friends. Also, keep in mind that you can buy things that aren’t on the list as well but everything MUST be new.
- Wrap the presents. I wrapped each present individually so that my little girl has many things to open on Christmas.
- Drop the presents off at a local Salvation Army. In your email it will tell you what salvation army to drop the presents off at. Be sure to write the Angel ID on your presents, which will also be provided in the email.
You can buy your presents from wherever you choose; it doesn’t have to be through JC Penney. If you chose to order presents through JC Penney you will receive free shipping by using the promo code MYANGEL and your validation number from the email.
Keep in mind that the last day to shop gifts to your Angel is Dec. 10. If you are purchasing a JC Penney Gift Card you have until Dec. 14 to do so.
In 2009, nearly 40,000 Angels were adopted online. Join today so that the Salvation Army and JC Penney can exceed those numbers this year! And remember, you can adopt as many Angel’s as you would like.w
