Color Code Your Life

Hectic schedule? Crazy life? It’s time to get organized. It’s time to “color code your life.”
First Step: Buy a calendar. Whether it be simple or fancy you need a way to easily view the days ahead of you. I prefer a personal planner because it can travel with me. Desktop calendars work well, too, and dry erase board calendars are preferred by some. The only drawback to dry erase board calendars is that you will have no permanent record of your past commitments, and no place to record future engagements.
Second Step: Buy your “colors”. Highlighters work well for personal planners and for desktop calendars. Skinny sticky notes and colorful Sharpies® also work well for desktop calendars. If you opt for a dry erase board calendar purchase different colored dry erase markers.
Third Step: Color code your life. Assign a different color for each area of your life: academics, appointments, social life, sorority events, work, and whatever other categories take up a significant amount of time in your life. A color for “etc.” might be necessary, as well.
Short, sweet, and simple. Color coding your life will both help you stay organized, as well as show you what areas of your life you are committing the most time to. For more great organizational tips, check out CL’s Guide to Getting a Head Start on Fall Semester. Here’s to an organized year!

Thank you for the great tips! This will definitely help me out this year.
