I cannot believe that May is pretty much over! So much has happened and it hasn’t entirely set in that a month of summer is gone already. It’s almost June, which means the next round of summer movies are headed to theaters! While, there are still May movies that I unfortunately haven’t seen, yet, summer presses on and lots of new movies are coming out every week. Here are some highlights of what to look forward to in June!

Movie: Get Him to the Greek
Release Date: 6/4/2010
Cast Highlights: Jonah Hill and Russell Brand are reunited and star as Aaron Green and Aldous Snow. Aziz Ansari and Diddy also star. There are also cameos from Tom Felton, Katy Perry (fiancee to Russell Brand), Christina Aguilera, Dee Snider, and Pharrell, among others.
Synopsis: Aaron Green is an intern at a record company, which is flailing. His boss, Sergio (Diddy), asks for ideas at a meeting to save the company and Aaron suggests Aldous Snow performing at the Greek Theater in LA. Sergio likes this idea and makes Aaron responsible for getting Aldous Snow from London to LA. So there our movie begins, hilarious misadventures of getting the outrageous Aldous to LA sure to follow.
Why I’m Excited: First, this movie is a spin-off of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which is one of my favorite movies. Jonah Hill is a different character, but Russell Brand’s character is the same wacky rock star. I love Russell Brand and I think he’s hilarious. I’m betting it’s going to be the best comedy of the summer, especially if Forgetting Sarah Marshall is any indication!

Movie: The A-Team
Release Date: 6/11/2010
Cast Highlights: Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Sharlto Copley, Jessica Biel, and Patrick Wilson star.
Synopsis: From what I can gather and from what I’ve heard, the movie is very similar to the original television series: there are four Special Forces soldiers and three of them are labeled war criminals after being blamed for a crime they didn’t even commit. They become mercenaries after breaking out of war prison. The television series was based around Vietnam, while this updated version takes place in the Middle East.
Why I’m excited: This is the action move I’ve been waiting for! I didn’t watch the original series, but the topic seems awesome and it could make a great movie. Plus, I LOVE Liam Neeson and everything he does. The man can honestly do no wrong in my eyes, frankly.

Movie: Toy Story 3
Release Date: 6/18/2010
Cast Highlights: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Wallace Shawn, Joan Cusack, Don Rickles, Laurie Metcalf, Estelle Harris, R. Lee Ermey, and John Ratzenberger all reprise their roles. Slinky Dog, Lenny, and Wheezy will all get new voice talents as Jim Varney and Joe Ranft have untimely and unfortunately passed away since the sequel.
Synopsis: It’s time for Andy to go to college, which frightens all of the toys as they are unsure of what will become of them. From the preview it seems as though they end up at a daycare center, which brings on a new cast of characters.
Why I’m Excited: I love the Toy Story franchise. I think it’s so unique and it is a really great story. I also love Tom Hanks and the rest of the cast, so I’m glad that they’re all back again. Lastly, I’m really pleased with how they’re handling this third installment. Andy is older and moving on, not still a little kid, fifteen years later. It’s bound to be a great movie and it’s coming to theaters in 3D!

Movie: Eclipse or The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Release Date: 6/30/2010
Cast Highlights: Kristen Stewart, Rob Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner return as Bella, Edward and Jacob. Bryce Dallas Howard comes in to replace Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria (sad!). Dakota Fanning, Billy Burke, Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Peter Facinelli, Jackson Rathbone, and Elizabeth Reaser also star.
Synopsis: Edward’s back for good and now Bella must deal with his marriage proposal, while balancing their relationship and her friendship with Jacob, who is trying to make more of their relationship. Victoria is still seeking revenge on Edward for killing James and is raising an army of reckless newborn vampires to come after Bella. This forces the Cullens to seek help from Jacob and the wolf pack, their natural enemies.
Why I’m Excited: I’m actually more nervous. Eclipse was my absolute FAVORITE book in the series and I’m worried the movie won’t do it proper justice. However, I’m excited to watch it come to life on-screen and for more of Taylor Lautner. There are also flashbacks of how Jasper and Rosalie became vampires, which I’m happy didn’t end up on the cutting room floor!
***NOTE:*** Tickets for Eclipse are already on sale! Be sure to get them early as they will probably sell out. Also, some theaters are doing a triple feature for one flat-price. Kaitlyn, Becky, and I all have tickets to see Twilight at around 7, New Moon, at about 9:30, and Eclipse at midnight (unfortunately not all together). Definitely look into what theaters near you are doing!
